Suzanne Newton studied at Leicester College of Art (now De Montford University), gaining an N.D.D. in Woven & Printed Textiles and the Art Teacher’s Diploma.
She taught at Prendergast Grarrunar School S.E.6, becoming Head of the Art & Needlework Departments. She later became Headmistress ofSt. Christopher’s School, Beckenharn, taking early retirement in 1985 inorder to develop her own work.
Since then she has served as vice-chairman and secretary of the New Embroidery Group and is a past chairman of Textile Studio.
She has exhibited with both these groups, Embroiderer’s Guild, St. Ives, (Cornwall) Quilters, and has examples of her work in private collections in the UK, USA and Australia.
After a period making creative hats, often experimenting with silk paper, she has returned to mixed~media two-dimensional work, using the various techniques developed during her career.
